power steering noise

hi i hve a cabby 318i and out of the blue i have started to get a whining noise each time i turn the power steering which goes up with the engine revs.

could it be fluid level?

any ideas -thanx

Power steering belt maybe...I had a screeching noise when turned to full lock changed the belt and fluid sorted it out but I would try the fluid first because its quicker and easier.

Have you checked the fluid level?

The above as well as the quality of the fluid. If it hasn't been changed as regular as it should, it certainly won't help. If its completely black then that's a sign its old fluid. It starts off life pink usually.
