Hi
I have a S50 conversion in a pre face 325i
After conversion the rev counter stopped working but I was getting a signal in black wire on blue plug behind cluster.

Tried a few different clocks still nothing

Then I got a cluster from a facelift 318 and the rev counter came to life wohoooo I thought.

But when I put the 325 coding plug in (white goes in front of cluster) the rev counter stops working. Put the 318 plug working again???

Do I need a facelift 325 coding plug???

Also the fuel gauge has the low level light on but showing half a tank of fuel this I know is not correct.

Anyone experiences this.

Before he s50 swap car was a 325 I auto. Now is s50 3.2 manual
Thanks is advance

Manny

Swop over your old fuel gauge into the new cluster and it should read correct, the sender unit in the early models is different. Iv'e done this a few times and its always worked for me.

If you have a rev. counter that works with a 1.8 coding plug, but not with your 2.5 one, then it does seem like the plug may be duff. Can't say I've ever come across a faulty one, but there's always a first time.
E30s have been fitted with two different sizes of fuel tank, depending on model, but there are differences between the two tanks and the way they work other than just their capacity. These differences mean that they need a fuel gauge matched to the tank size for it to work properly.

I've tried 3 different V6 plugs but no rev counter only thing I can think is they are per face.
To my knowledge I thought only difference was 4 cylinder and 6 cylinders??
Not pre face and facelift???

I'll put up a wanted ad for a facelift coding chips

Thanks

You might be better asking for a straigh 6 coding chip. No E30 has a V6.
