hello freinds, I have a deep rumbling sound which appears to come from the back of my 1989 316i E30 when driving along. It gets louder as I go along, but cornering doesnt seem to affect it. The only way I could describe it is a sort of wowowowowowowowowowowowow, if you see what I mean! I thought it was probably a wheel bearing(and bought one ready to change it) but I have jacked it up, spun the wheels and they dont appear to be making any excess noise, there is also no play in either of them. Any ideas please? I am thinking it might be the diff? Also, could anyone give me an idea of what I should be looking for in terms of trade in value for this car? It is taxed and tested til next may, has 117k miles, and is in reasonable condition (no rust) for the year. I am considering trading it in for a newer model, or possibly a tourer (better for the dog).
Cheers and merry Xmas to you all!

sometimes if the wheel bearing if on its way out will have no play since u got it change it. i had one go on my bike once no play just noise so put it off and then the back wheel locked and i was skidding all over the place. luckly i controled it due to mass of skill and the fact that i just left the lights and wasnt going fast. but i learnt my leason. could have been nasty

if it is the diff i got a spare u can have for 50 quid plus p&p
