Replacing Fuel Lines?
Moderator: martauto
Very basc, but the fuel lines on my e30 look to be long past there sale by date. There all bascially rusted and will need replaced. Is their any descriptive write ups on here, or has anyone came across a thread with Pictures
. Instead of replacing them with metal fuel lines, would plastic/rubber lines the correct diameter of pipe etc be a better job so that they dont rust again. Thanks in advance folks.

Get them directly from the dealers... Not that expensive. I think Capri-Rob bought some not long ago at a good price from them.
To switch them its just cross head screws holding the brackets in place along the passenger side from memory... Simple enough job when you actually look at them

They were about £20 per pipe for the pre-shaped ones from BMW but that was a couple of years ago.
As for replacing with plastic can't really comment - I just coated them in waxoyl after fitting - should last the life of the car now

But they arent pre shaped - you need to bend them to fit.maxfield wrote:Yes.Idol wrote:Can you get brake lines from the stealer??

you can do it by hand if you're very careful but if you want it to look factory you need a proper pipe bending tool and to be very careful getting the old ones off so you can use it as a template to bend the new one into shapeShiz wrote:how hard is it to bend them into shape?..thats.the hardest part i presume bending the pipes?
Steel I think and they are coated/painted black, the correct length and with the fittings already in place.capnmchl wrote:Are the dealer brake lines copper or steel then?
Again a thick coating of waxoyl on fitting and regular re-treatments will mean they last a long time.
