Hi,

When I pull the wiper stalk it sounds like the motor is working but the washers do not spray......only a small amount of water trickles out and goes on the bonnet. It doesn't spray at all. Any advice on how to fix would be great.

Thanks

Chances are a pipe going to a washer jet has partly fallen off or split
Check those I would
And if that fails whip the pump out of the bottle and have a look to see if his pick up is clear

I had a similar issue, but mine was the washer jets clogged up. I used a piece of really thin stiff wire to poke down the nozzles. Job done.

Usual problem is failure of the non return valve; #15 here: http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E30/T ... _cleaning/
If it's at fault, it will have water squirting out of the vent hole on the side of it.
There are various versions of these valves, depending on model, but all are very cheap from BMW.
