There are so many cheap parts on eBay. Is it a good idea to buy parts from eBay? I have bought the odd thing like anti roll bar links and track rod ends and they are fine. I want to buy few things like lowering springs, shocks, brake discs, brake lines, pads etc. Would anyone recommend buying things like this on eBay or not?
I dont have much money but I love my E30 and I don't want to get rid of it so I want to keep costs down by shopping around.
Thanks everyone

It can be fine, as long as you check the ad and feedback carefully, to try and avoid buying cheapo Chinese copy stuff dressed up as the real deal.
You do have to be pretty careful though, as there's alot of sub-standard stuff floating about, nowadays!
I had a 1987 320iSE that failed the MOT because the el-cheapo lowering springs fitted by a previous owner had sagged and warped to the point where the tester considered them dangerous, even though the car still drove OK.
Fortunately, I had a spare set of original BMW springs sitting in the garage from when I had my first 1984 E30 lowered!

Same as anything and everything, you get what you pay for.
There is a hell of a lot of shit on eBay but there is also some bargains to be had.
Get down your local motor factors and make good friends with them, my best mate works at one so I get an awesome discount and send stuff back etc.

My brother just had a set fitted to his Renault Clio Sport, -40mm drop ones. They were OK, but the front ended up too low, so he had the original front springs refitted, minus a coil from each, and it now sits just right.

A lot of the time you can find good branded parts which people have purchased and never gotten round to fitting, and then they put them on ebay as they are just laying around the house.
These can be had for cheap, like my new pair of febi bilstien rear shock mounts for 11 quid that I won at auction. Bargain.!

Yeah 40mm is a bit low. I am thinking of only 30mm. I just wanted to know if they are a decent make.
Thanks
