I have a 318i cabby which has the notorious flickering brake pad sensor light which i have read about in the wiki.
I plan to fix this over the summer but i wont have time until after the car is MOT'd.
Could anybody shed some light on whether this is an MOT fail? I suspect it shouldn't be as it is just a warning light and the brakes work absolutely fine.
MOT - Flickering Brake Pad Light

This is why i ask. Nobody seems to quite understand what will pass and what will fail anymore.Rich320I wrote:think as from april this year, any warning lights that are on, mean its a fail
The reason i ask is because the brake pad sensor light is different to the ABS light which i can understand to be an MOT failure.
anybody had their car pass/fail with a flickering light?
well mine passed with the brake pad warning light on! but it is a fail apparently, however the MOT tester (halfords) also missed the fact my horn wasnt working so he may have been having a stevie wonder moment
so far as i understand any warning light on should now be a fail,
anyways sure someone will be along to offer confirmation of this

MOT tester has no interest in your pad warning light, other than to satisfy himself that it is a pad wear warning only, and not combined with the fluid level light.
thanks...i think i'll just have to take it along and try my luckBrianmoooore wrote:MOT tester has no interest in your pad warning light, other than to satisfy himself that it is a pad wear warning only, and not combined with the fluid level light.
