As part of my suspension upgrade, I bought replacement top mounts from ECP for the front struts. However, having had them fitted, along with the new springs etc., I find that the three bolts dont line up with the three holes in the top of the wing. On the mount, the three bolts are equidistant, whereas on the wing, only two are. See photos below. Has anyone else come across this problem? I believe I asked for the Lemforder mounts on the basis they were better quality.

Anyone else come across this?? Am I missing something?

Incredibly fast response!! Must have been under a minute!

I cant see that they will ever fit as the distance between the bolts on the mount are different from the distance between the holes on the wing. Am I being dumb here??

Trev B& and I had this about 18 months ago on my motor

We came to the conclusion that despite saying otherwise, the ECP top mounts were either E36's or were incorrect

We could not make them fit and we packed the old ones with grease and refitted them- they are still on and are going strong

They will be E36, ECP are cocks :)

(Not including the Zone ECP specialist "meatballs" who is a very nice man)

Thing is, I bet they wont give me a refund or replacement as I've already had them fitted to the struts. They weren't cheap either.

If you ordered the correct ones, and they supplied the wrong ones, they will take them back. Goods are unfit for purpose.

They definitely wont fit Andy, the spacing of the bolts is wrong. Fitted your ignition switch today, but haven't tried it out yet. Also fitted the exhaust hanger.

I'll call ECP in the morning and see what they can do for me.

Take the photos showing the differences into the branch and ask them to exchange them - as above if they've supplied the wrong bits they have to exchange them.

Apologies to ECP - I've been digging around for ages today to find the receipt, only to find that I actually bought the top mounts from GSF! I've bought so many bits from both of them lately, I'd lost track of what I'd bought from where.

Phoned GSF this morning - the part number they supplied is correct, but when they looked at other ones they had on the shelf, they were correct, i.e. non-equidistant bolts. They're happy to exchange the original ones I bought as it was their error.

Again, sorry to ECP for blemishing their character unnecessary. Everything I've had from them has been good. For that matter, everything I've had from GSF has been good up until now. Everyone makes mistakes.

Do I take it from the above responses that GSF only sell Vetech top mounts that are deemed to be no good? What happens with them then?

GSF Sell Lemforder stuff - just clarify what brand you're paying for before handing over cash
