im experiencing bit of a issue with my 318i M40
ive put a late m40 engine into an earlier car
the car is a was built december 1987 and registered jan 1988
i recently purchased it was a failed engine with severe head gasket issues
being that i have had a few E30s i had a spare engine i fitted from my old 1991 318i m40 cabriolet
im aware of the issue with pin 20 on the c101 plug, that has been sorted out
now the engine is in and running but i have no tacho or fuel economy gauge
when the old engine was removed the engine loom a connector under the steering column, how ever it wasnt pluged into anything and the car loom doesnt have a connector for it either

i read in the wiki about having to redirect the wire from pin 9 at the c101 to pin 7 on blue connector (black wire) on the instrument cluster to get the tacho working as pin 7 is the input for the tacho
having redirected this wire the tacho is still not working

i have checked the feed on the line coming from the engine ecu
and it starts around 12v and when revved switches downwards and the voltage drops as the rpm increases

i have checked the same wire on my other e30 at pin 7 at the instrument cluster and this starts off low at about 0.800v at idle and rises with the engine rpm as you'd expect to see

the same issue with the fuel ecomony gauge

any help would be much appreciated
