right, the other night the car cut out, had to get it towed home, turns out the lead for the CPS has been cut by the fan so time for a new sensor.
unbolted the alan bolt and began trying to free the old one, however half a can of WD40 and a few wounds later still no give in the sensor.
whats the best and eaisest way to remove this sensor?
25 years of grime and crap has made it pretty solid
any tips or advice much apprechiated.
cheers, Mark

Wiggle it from side to side and try a flat head screwdriver on the face to lever it out.

Not sure whether it's possible but try taking the CPS mount off the block with the CPS still attached. Only a couple of bolts but the CPS might get in the way.
cheers for the replys, ended up taking the rad off and the fan to get better access with a hammer and screwdriver, some gentle pursuasion later and its out.
also the other sensor wire that runs along past the pullys and clips onto one of the HT leads has a split in it so i need a new one of those too, does anyone know what sensor that is?

Only other thing i can think off that runs across to that side of the engine is the sire to the oil pressure switch. That is just a single wire, if the wire itself isn't cut and it's just the outer then just get it taped up and in position.

You're not wrong Kedge, the pressure wire is a lot more dangly and damage-prone than the CID.
