How would I go about having just the city lights come on when the knob is pulled out to the first click? At the moment the dipped beams also come on at reduced voltage after one click.
Any way of changing this?
Thanks in advance!

Find two round two pin plugs and sockets near the front of the left hand inner wing, pull them apart and just leave them.
This mod. is required if you fit HID headlamps.

Thanks Brian, I've tried searching on here and Google for this information, was under the impression that the plugs were resistors, and they needed to be disconnected for HID installation as leaving them connected would knacker the ballasts of the xenons with a <12v supply.

The wires from the plugs that head towards the front of the car do connect to a couple of high wattage resistors, mounted right at the front of the inner wing.
The lighting switch is configured to supply power to the low beam headlamps in both the first and second switch positions, with one of these resistors connected in series with each headlamp bulb. When the switch is in the second position, another contact supplies power to a the coils of a couple of relays under the left hand side of the dashboard, whose contacts then short out the resistors.
If the headlamp bulbs are replaced with HIDs, the ballasts will being fed via the resistors in the first switch position, and will flash on and off like strobe lights.

Not enough power will be supplied for the ballasts' to sustain an arc, just enough to make them flicker. Kind of same characteristics as when a ballast is dying.

One more question, if you will. Any easy way to trick the Check Panel into not throwing the 'Dipped Beam' warning light, without messing around with the check panel relays in the boot?

Cheers
