Hi Had my car for a while now had no problems with the roof followed the service guide every year and no issues, sold the car a few weeks ago and there is now an issue the rear flap is fine, when the flap opens and the roof starts to fold into it, the bar from the motor bends before moving the roof , this causes the roof not to fold in fully , and the flap closes on the roof but does not close fully as the the hood frame is preventing it form doing so. I dont really want to just remove the bar and have an electric falp and manual roof. before I replace the bar any ideas what would cause this, I dont want to replace the bar and then find the new ones bend.

i am looking at the car next wek, I intend to remove the bar and disengage hood motor , to ensure everything is moving freely and nothing is catching , sticking or stiff.
on the bar one end is adjustable any idea on setting this correctly also there where some guys in darlaston in the midlands who really knew there stuff anyone got a number thanks

Hi Bally,

I think these guys are called; E30 BMW Centre.

Their address is;
M6, junction9, Off Old Park Road, Darlaston, WS10 9PR. Tel: 07968 852395.

I've been meaning to take mine to them, but haven't had the time, or the funds to do this at the moment. However, let us know how you get on and what sort of money they wanted to resolve your issue. I have a similar problem. (my motors won't operate after I disengaged them - obviously re-engaged, but no operation).

I tried to google earth their location but couldn't find them - apparently, they are tucked away somewhere. No doubt someone will advise shortly....

All the best.
