325i ECU code 0 261 200 173 can chipped 172 be used instead?

As above really, these are for a race car and was wondering if the 173 ecu is in effect the same as the 320i 172, i.e will a chip for a 173 work in a 172 or are ther other issues. Idle and cold start etc I`m not bothered about.

Yep as said above both the same bar the chip, also i have a good working 172 ECU if needed?
