Well went to look at my timing as it was suggested that the sympthoms could be due to the belt been 'out a tooth', I found this, should the two marks align ( not mentioned in the manual )

Okay, so they sould align, looks like the timing is out. I have removed all and there is no damage, I might get away with it. This is the first thing I will check next time I swap an engine. I still don't know why the external marks line up?
