Hi. This is my latest DIY, couldn't find a better sub-forum to post

Anyway, we will be going from this :?

To this (Remote Kit install will follow some time soon):

For 10 Euro, I got 2 duplicates of the original key. Make sure you get the duplicates with the all-metal version, not the plastic handle.

Blank blade removed for measuring:

Using an angle grinder, I cut both keys:

Newly cut key below blanks from keyfob, showing what needs to be removed in order to fit within the remote key enclosure:

Using my dremel, I started to grind just a bit each time, testing fitment.

Had to skim them about 0.5mm, don't worry though, the key won't bend!
Image

The glue I chose to use, is super strong. Once it settles, the key will not be able to be removed from the key carrier. I had a spare keyfob for testing, and I just threw it away, they key would not get out.

Applying glue, aligning blades and letting it harden:

Excess glue is removed and blade is re-assembled to the keyfob

Now, the E30 is too wide so I was going to trim it but I don't know if it acts as a stop when the key goes into the lock, so I chose to grind the plastic housing a bit.

Awful lot of effort when a simple solution exists. A £30 kit from a company on eBay called right click will provide those very key fobs, with a BMW logo on the back, a remote central locking retrofit kit and the correct blanks for your car to be fitted into that key fob which fit perfectly.

www.rclick.co.uk bud. A dam fine company with good, reliable products that are well thought out.
Then the original keys can be kept safe and suffer no more wear.

Crumbs I'm surprised I haven't gone off one one?
It must be late :D
Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level then, beat you with experience.
