Hi,
Right, I've been having a central locking issue. Just got the car, checked out the wiring in the drivers door/A post. Sorted the red and black wire out as the passenger door had jammed and that seemed to release it.
Now, when I close the door and start the engine a few seconds later the doors lock? Surely not normal?
Also the central locking doesn't seem to work from the key in the lock.
Anyone else experienced in this?

The doors locking when you start the car sounds like an aftermarket alarm to me.
I had a similer problem once when as soon as unlock the doors they would snap shut again but the fact that yours does it once the engine starts leads me to believe its part of an alarm system

I thought that. Not sure where all the wiring is for it though.
Might be an auto elec job if I can't work it out.

Oh, and how was that problem fixed by the way?

I has an iS that did this as well. The cure involved a pair of wire cutters and a one way trip to the bin for the offending piece of aftermarket junk.

My toad also does it, but you can disable it if you have the manual. I've lost mine... so I have to remember that the car will lock itself 60s after the doors are shut - whether the ignition is on or not!
Luckily it doesn't deadlock so you can still get in with a bit of dodgy behaviour.

Right, managed to remove a lovely section of wiring attached to a mega phone under the hood.
Thought it was a standard alarm until I saw how it had been meshed with the loom.
With that removed..... guess what.... still doesn't work! Still locks me in after a few seconds with the engine on BUT will not unlock/lock from the key. It will unlock all doors when I pull the lock pin up when I try to get out but after that dead.
Does anyone know of alarm hiding places? This one was in the passenger side, behind the glove box. There were some wires connected to the passenger C/L circuit but I sorted that. Not quite sure where else too look!

Don't assume there's only one alarm/immobiliser fitted. The most I've found in one car is three - all connected and not a remote fob between them! On an E30, I've seen them where you've found one behind the glovebox, on the other side above the engine ECU, and under the front console in the space below and in front of the ashtray..

Hi,
update on this one. I ripped an old alarm out which was connected to the passenger locking wires. The thing is, this wasn't actually powered.
The problem still exists but... get this, it only locks the car as follows:
1) start engine
2) battery light & handbrake light are on
3) rev engine. Both above lights go out. Doors lock
4) don't rev, leave on idle, the lights remain on and doors don't lock!
Any ideas electrical gurus....??? I've had the cluster out, nothing there at all, most of the dash parts are stripped out along with all the interior.

First of all, you have a faulty alternator or something related. The battery light and the lights that have a test function should go off at idle, without revving the engine.
For the locking, you almost certainly have a second (well hidden?) alarm fitted.
