Need technical Q/A then you're in the right place

My TPS is oily and I was wondering can it be cleaned?

When measuring the continuity between pins 2 and 18 I get all zeros 000 on the multimeter so I assume this has good continuity. I believe this to be the idle.

Pins 3 and 18 the continuity reads 005 on the multimeter so I think this is not good enough and this would be the WOT part.

Am I right in thinking this is crappy?

What you are looking for on the meter is the same as what you see when touching the probes together. Sounds like your meter is showing a reading in ohms in which case "000" means no resistance, or connected. "005" is pretty much the same thing, a DMM will usually show some very small resistance in ohms. In any case it is continuity for the purposes of that switch. My switch is oily too but gives a good continuity reading at idle and again (to the other pin) at WOT - that's all you're looking for. Without the engine running if you manipulate the linkage by hand you can probably hear the microswitch click as you release it and another click as you open the throttle all the way.

At idle you expect something near "000" on one pair of pins (don't have a reference in front of me to check those numbers you gave) and something else indicating no connection - depending on your meter, maybe "NC" or "MAX" or some figure in megohms - between the other pair. Midway you expect no connection for either. At WOT you expect the idle pair to show no connection and the WOT pair to be near "000".

Looks like you are reading "000" and "005" without moving the throttle. That would be bad, time to remove and de-gunk it and see if you can return it to normal operation.

There was a thread I found ages ago, you have to drill a small hole just through the plastic case somewhere near where it says bosch iirc. then get the carb cleaner in there and job jobbed. I did it on mine ages ago and it worked a treat, mine was working fine, but after cleaning you could hear the micro switches operating clearly.

I'm reading 000 at idle. 005 at wot with the the linkage turned all the way over.

Just checked wit another multimeter thit beeps with continuity and it's not beeping at wot... And that's my spare TPS. Looks like a new one is needed

Only one click should be heard from a TPS, and that should be from the idle switch, which is a miniature microswitch. The WOT switch is a much cruder affair, which is less accurate, but much more reliable.
Drill a 1mm hole in the middle of the underside and flush it out, although if your 005 = five ohms, then that should be good enough.
