Alrite there people!

Ok i was driving home from work today, and ive never had an issue with my iS but all of a sudden i was driving along at around 30mph and i went to accelerate and nothing! You could hear the engine trying to suck air but it was completely dead, then i dipped the clutch and all the lights came on the dash so i pulled over!
The car stalled, so i then cranked her over and it fired 1st time as normal! Revved it and it was perfect! I drove the 20 miles home down the motorway and then when i was getting into my hometown doing around 40-50 the same thing happened again! The car wont bump when it cuts out, it only re-starts once you have allowed the engine to completely stall and then crank it again?!

So random! Would a fuel pump cause this? Or would a fuel pump fault not allow the car to run at all?
Im gonna go out in the car again in a mo and try and get it happen again to see if the rev counter drops away as i didnt check that when it happened!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Rob

has the tank been run very low recently, any work carried out under the bonnet, are the connections in the engine bay connected tightly?

mine did this and i never found the problem, the only thing i found was a split in my air pipe from afm to inlet manifold taped that up and never had the problem again but saying that now i was tryin to fix the spotlights the other day, started messing with the switch in the cab and now it wont start so i think its something behind the dash causing the problems as it starts now and again but then cuts out and stalls so hope that helps

I had this on an M40 as part of a more general bad running, kangarooing, stalling problem. I was told that replacing the main and fuel pump realys was the solution to the stalling bit - I did this among other things ( like replacing the afm, replacing the crack position sensor and the TPS) and all problems now gone. It was trial and error - but the relays are a cheap thing to replace - either with new or known working ones.

Was it very wet weather when this occurred?
Two headblenders, couple of bags of MC Hammer, 5 litres of FFF, a 48ft bastard, a box of jumped-up custard and some soggy chimps
