My car is sluggish from standstill when I floor it.
After it gets going it's fine, when I stop its sluggish again.

My BMW is auto, I jus done the service and reset the tappets to 35 using fila gauge.

Any ideas???

Was it sluggish before you did all these things? Also, when you did tappets, was the engine hot or cold?

Also, what model is it? Has it ever been faster than what it is now?

Have you checked all the obvious things over? Check over everything you touched in the first place. Sparkplugs etc...

May have been something you missed.

If not something simple, i'm sure there will be someone reading up on it shortly and helping out.

Perhaps you misadjusted a couple of the tappets, if you can feel a noticable improvement in torque from getting the tappets right, same will apply if you leave a few slightly out of spec.

Wouldn't hurt to re-adjust them when the motor is stone cold.

I've got a 320 auto and I have exactly the same problem mate. After alot of replacing spark plugs etc the problem got worse and now think it's the auto box clutch slipping. Isit worse when it is hot an quite nippy when cold? Now when I engage kick down the revs just go up but doesn't move! Plus on hills I feel rumbling as I set off. Hope this alps mate
Cheers shy

Used ngk twin head ones. It wasn't an ignition problem on mine I changed the ignition coil on mine. As it became worse an now it's easy to tell something is slipping either box or diff I dnt know but I thought if it was diff would be making noise so I think its the box
