hello everyone,

I'm new to the zone and also new to e30's, have just bought my first, a 316i (1990).
a very standard car with slight mods by the previous owner (car lowered and a bad @$$ exhaust)
I will replace the exhaust to an orginal, once I have made my presence felt with the neighbours

More importantly is I needed some advice/recommendations from you guys re: having central locking and an alarm installed.
I would much prefer one key/key fob that would the trick but I know this may not be the case. Would a BMW dealer be able to do this or any garage around North or West London anyone would recommend?

cheers

If your car has never had central locking I guess you could buy the solenoids and install them but I have never done it. Its also possible you have central locking but its not working.

Once the door locks are sorted then any alarm fitter will be able to connect to them if the alarm control module has a door lock function.

one of the easiest ways to see if your car is fitted with central locking would be to check in the boot for a solinoid on the inside of the boot behind the lock.
will look like this but could be white or black Image

as for a garage I only know of one I would use and thats A Tech in kent, but no doubt there are others that are trustworthy and do a correct job. A few guys from your side of london use A Tech btw.

worth finding out if the wiring is fitted to all looms as this would be a lot of work to run the cables.
