warning light help!

well the light thats comin on is lightin up after about 2-3 mins of drivin were before it used to just come on when i turned ignition on then went off once i started the car


its the Green light far left

Strange.
I have only ever seen that light used as a check light on M50 conversions,to indicate a sensor issue.
On a standard car,the light is blank.

this is what is why im a bit worried it comes one everyday when i turn ignition on then goes off once started but came on while i was goin down M1 on way home from work i wasent doing anything differnt to normal an then it came on again when i went to shops later on

just out of interest but the light that isnt lit between the two red lights under the rev counter what does it mean if this is lit ???

To the above post..... Brake pad warning light. Extremely common for these to be lit all the time. There is a mod to stop it I think, but many owners live with it!

That green light should only be on the oil burners. It comes on after the glowplug light goes out, or comes straight on with the ignition switch if the engine is already warm enough not to need preheat. It indicates that the engine is ready to be started.

Since I now see that this isn't an oil burner, that seems a very likely explanation, Chris.
So we now have an ABS sensor fault!

Or the clocks have been changed from a diesel? Or both!

id does have abs yes but i assumed it didnt work as it locked up under hard breakin

Your MOT tester has fallen down on the job! Car should have failed it's test with an inoperative ABS warning lamp. (The unlit one below the gap between the tacho. and temp. gauge.)

right so how do i even go about sortin this out first of all do i have clocks out to check the bulb? then is it a case fo checkin all the abs sensors for broken rings an wires? or is there a common problem i should check first?

It would be a good idea to put the bulb back where it belongs. You may be able to do it just by removing the panel above the driver's knees, with the aid of some needle nosed pliers and great care. The complete lampholder just pushes in its hole, and is held in place by friction alone.
If it is the ABS light, the wire colours should be green/red or grey/red and green.
To start fault finding the ABS, take off the inspection cover above the glovebox, and the ABS ECU will be right in front of you. Remove its connector, and measure the resistance of the ABS wheel sensors across the following pairs of pins of the plug:
4 and 6 = LF
8 and 9 = LR
11 and 21 = RF
24 and 26 = RR
The resistances should be around 980 ohms, but more importantly, should be identical.
Take care not to spread the buckets in the plug with your meter probes.
