Is the cause for the screen not to iluminate the bulbs behind the screen or something else?and do the dealers sell the bulbs on there own or with the white fixing slide?

It's the actual display light strip that goes, you can get a new one from BM but are about £25+ or you can get some bulbs from RS components, Maplins, CPC etc for around 80p and solder them in yourself :D

I've repaired two now in this manner

Very simple to change the bulbs, if you know one end of a soldering iron from the other. The work is in getting the OBC out to get at the light bar.
The LED conversion is a waste of effort, IMO, as the bulbs from CPC have a rated life which equates to around 500,000 miles.

Just my suspicious mind, but those massive price hikes seem to have coincided with the launch of their in-house restoration service. Sounds like they are keeping all old spares for themselves now. The new prices have put me off going down there even just to enquire about parts prices.

Just solder those bulbs in from maplins, its easy. They might even do it for you..

Hi,
Can you confirm the voltage and wattage of these bulbs from Maplin please. A part number would be appreciated

Cheers

I've done the LED conversion just needed the correct resistor between the leds. Got all the bits from Maplin for about £4. A bit of a fiddle but now works very well. I've previously replaced with a genuine OEM bulb pack which lasted about 5 years and 40,000 miles......

If it's a 'lit up' orange background, it sounds like the OBC is completely dud. With the light bar failed, all the info is on the screen, but dark, and can just about be read by looking at ther screen at an acute angle.
