this pipe recently split and made the car drive like a bag of poo, missin, stalling, no power at low revs etc etc, i'm jus curious what it does?? it goes on the bottom of the carb, its a totally standard 316 with original carb.

I would suspect it is for the vacum advance for the timing.

Just get a length of pipe that is same diameter from a motor factors and replace it. The original carbs are a notorious liability anyway and it may not be limited to a leaky hose, but that would be the place to start.

its already done, i jus cut the split bit off the end n pushed it back on, ive been toying with the webber conversion but need wings 1st, cheers for the reply.

wouldnt bother with the weber conversion
just put a 318i engine in it instead
