318is suspension lowering

i want to lower my 318is about 35 - 40 mm .I know the suspension is different to the std 4cyl .Do i need special springs or will regular 4 or 6 cyl do ?

6cyl springs are a no no as the spring rate will be too high at the front so you wont get the correct lowered affect. If your just going for springs then any 4 pot ones will do but if you do go for a full spring/shock package you'll need 318is specific stuff as you have the 51mm front struts normally found on 325's

The iS is about 15mm lower than a standard car so a spring that lowers a standard 318i by 35mm will lower your iS by 20. If you lower your iS by much more than that I would expect the front lip to be quite easy to catch on uneven ground.

hey thanks for the advice . i guess i will go for a 4cyl spring with 35- 40 mm drop . that will take em down another 20 -25 ... tks again
