Little help needed here people, my brothers 316i has just started playing up.
It's starts yesterday.... Firstly He started the car and drove it for 10-15 mins with no probs, stopped at the shops and then the engine wouldn't start!! It turns over and actually catches but at a very very low idle. We left the car for 5 mins and then it started 1st time and ran fine. Now to this morning and the exact same thing has happen but this time it's rufusing to start/ get going. It will run "lumpy" but for 5 seconds then dies out. Any help would be hugely appreicated, thanks all. [/list]

It's possible that you have a badly leaking injector, which leaks the contents of the fuel rail into the inlet manifold when you stop.
Try stopping the engine by pulling out fuse 11, instead of turning off the key. This will empty the fuel rail and the problem shouldn't occur, although it will take a second or two to build up pressure when you start it.

All sorted for the time being!! Thanks for the tip on fuse 11 brian. I ve replaced the fuel filter and all seems ok  !!!
No doubt I ll have to replace/refurb the injectors before to long.
