rocker arm replacement

not long replaced my cylinder head with a rebuilt head i aquired from a bmw parts place which had good cam etc and had been pressure tested etc managed to do a 300 mile's with no issues but it started miss firing yesterday abruptly luckily i was close to home so nursed it back slowly with no throttle which was fun, pulled the plugs and had a wet n04 plug, pulled the r cover and found n04 inlet rocker broke now i no its a head off job but i have heard of jacking up the engine and doing it that way so my question is has anybody done it that way, clutching at straws but really dont want to have to pull the head again unless i really have to, im gonna change them all and the cam as the 1 broke is not a oem rocker, i feel like giving up on the whole car
but i really cant let it beat me now ive put in to much. and i have not really had chance to properly enjoy it yet.
