Bearing in mind that a new M20 distributor cap is circa £80.

Are there any options for converting the single coil with distrubutor to multi coil distributorless ignition, whilst still using the stock ECU?

Now the stock distributor only sends the spark to the correct plug, it's the ECU alters the timing from the various sensors, plug lead sensor (cam position), speed and position sensor on the front of the crank, AFM (air temp and load), water temp sensor, TPS.

Is there a bolt on computer that uses the stock speed/position crank sensor on the front of the engine to distrubute the spark to each of the 6 coils whilst leaving the stock ECU to sort the timing?

edit - I've learned to spell distributor and at £160 I must have read a quote for two dizzy caps :o:

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

£160 seems a tad steep! I paid around £40-50 from ECP last time I bought a new cap.

You could use a Megasquirt unit to fire a Vauxhall Omega V6 coil pack and still retain the Motronic ECU for the fuelling, but you may just as well use the MS to do the fuelling as well.

I can't see the cap being that much and to loose the dizzy you need to go to stand alone management to run a coil pack which in basic format is still gonig to be £500

Megajolt only does ignition and may be cheaper than a full MS but as speedtouch has said you may aswell go full standalone

megajolt needs a 36-1 trigger pattern which means a £custom machined preface lift front crank damper.
