thanks for your response , I have poured in 3 and a half litres of coolant, , what I will do tomorrow is jack the front of the car and try again , I asked a friend who deals and breaks e30's , he said to remove one of the pipes coming out the bulk head (top one ) and put a water hose on the pipe and cycle the water , but isn't that pumping out all the Coolant I put in and replacing the rad with only water? Thanks again for all the posts , very usfull site,Morat wrote:Try bleeding it with the nose pointing gently uphill, it helps the bubbles filter out. You'll want your heater sliders over to the right as well as the temp set to hot while filling. How much coolant did you put in?

If it needs a little assistance, pull the little overflow pipe from the coolant bottle back in from under the wing, take the cap off of the coolant bottle, place the free end of the overflow pipe in your mouth, your hand flat across the bottle neck, and blow.Brianmoooore wrote:Take the top heater hose off, and push it back on when coolant comes out of both pipes.

Ok guys , I have now tryed to bleed the system again, still no hot air , I have removed the glove box and a closer look at the heater matrix unit ,there's a valve which is slightly leaking fluid (coolant) , now I have had the car running with the heaters on full , temp gauge in the middle , I had then disconected the plug from the valve , checked it with my test meter, and there Is no power going to the unit , I have checked the fuses they seem to b fine , there is also a fuse near the matrix unit ( inside the car) 2amp fuse which seems to be ok , dose any body know weather power should be going to that plug constanly?

What are you under the glovebox for??
No, there should not be power at that plug, except when the temperature control is fully anticlockwise.

I had this problem, my car would get hot sitting in traffic but when I moved on it would go back to normal temp..... As advised I replaced the Viscous fan clutch to no avail...... Then one day the bloody thing went to the red and would not come down no matter what....
Turned out to be a blocked thermostat..
