Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me find out the cause of a squeeking noise I can hear from my car. It sounds as its only in the inside and coming from under the steering wheel or around that area. It happens as I drive over every little bump on the road.

I don't have a clue, but what could it be?

Is your tires touching your shock absorber?

No I'm pretty sure it isn't. It also only comes from the driver's side.

Its really short but repetitive squeeks.

Could it be the shock absorber? Try pushing your car down and see if it stops when you let it go, it shouldn't bounce much.

Will do. Thing is it sounds like its definitely coming from around the steering wheel not outside. I recently got my steering wheel changed from tech1 to tech2.

Are you driving a touring? I've found that the high pitched mouse squeak that the tailgate makes when poorly adjusted can sound like it is coming from under the dash until you work out what it actually is....

my bet is the heater surround panel rubbing on the gear surround panel, or the under steering wheel trim rubbing on the lower dash board.

either that or it is your control arm bushes/ball joints

Where abouts could the heater surround panel be rubbing against the gear surround panel? If it is this how do i stop it?

if rubs at the place where they touch!! they only really touch in one place.

to stop it you can apply a very thin layer of silicone grease at the joint, or as i have done i wedged an old piece of credit card in there - finally a use for the credit crunch!

Squeak from the steering wheel area? Steering wheel recently changed?
Try a little grease on the brass ring the horn carbon brush rubs against.

i had a squeak, it turned out to be the seatbelt catch rubbing against the piping of the seat...stuck the soft half of a velcro pad on it and it sorted it out..............now thats quiet, i can hear a previously unheard tiny rattle near the sunroof panel!!
