I'm wondering if there should be water in the area where the cabby hood mechanism folds each side behind the doors, level with where the passengers sit?
I would have thought not. I dried it out yesterday, but we had heavy rain overnight and it has about 10mm of water in there again.
Could not see any drain holes, but it is a bit gunky in there.

Also, should there be carpet underneath where hood retracts too, or has someone fitted this at some stage?

Any facts always welcome.
Thanks in advance.

there should be no water in there, if there is then the drain is blocked. better to find out how the water has gotten in there too as the hood cover should have a seal

Yes the carpet is a standard fit, and it stops the window from being scratched when the roof is folded down.

Thanks for that.
There is water both sides, so as you say a seal is not doing its job. The most obvious one is on the rear 'flap' that raises up and down etc.
Is there actually a drain in there though?
I'll have a look tomorrow when light again.

Well done.

I see!
I did try poking about earlier today with some wire, but this is now much clearer where I'm meant to be poking.

Thanks for your help and pictures.
Will let you know how I got on.

The hood needs weatherproofing with some product (I read Fabsil is good, but not the spray-on version) and this may help too.

remember to clean out the lower drain holes in the sills just in front of the rear wheels as well or the water could drain into the car

Hi,

Does anyone know how to prevent water from getting into the front of the car? Got in the car and the drivers seat was wet after putting a new roof 6 months ago

I've actually found that the flap that goes up and down does not 'lock' into place, via the two levers that run to a mechanism that also raises and lowers the flap.

The wires are slack, but if I manually take up the slack by moving the mechanism by hand both levers move.

This indicates either;
The mechanism needs adjustment-the two wires look as if they may be adjusted where they join the rotating part.
Or
The rotating part is not working properly and therefore not pulling the wires to lock it down, though it shuts the flap.
Or
The rotating part is missing a washer perhaps? The allen bolt securing it is tight, though the rotating part feels loose to me underneath. I can turn it about 45degrees by hand, but in the slacker position direction.

My feeling is that the mechanism is not rotating. Is it a separate motor that drives this in addition to the flap?
When roof is down, there is a 10mm lip where the flaps need to gone down further. You can push it down by hand, but this makes driving difficult!

Any help would be great.
Thanks again.

Well that should do the trick.
I'll be able to have a look in a while as we have some sunshine here in Fashionable Northants.

Thanks for your help. Can you come and do it? Only a short distance from you, if we still had Concorde!

Also check that the oval shaped lever is not bent causing it to miss the bit behind it that spins to move the wires. This happened to mine. If it is you can remove it and hammer it back into shape

Ok.
Thanks also for that.
Am I best to remove the motor and just see what has gone wrong, or is this going to cause more problems, like the whole sequence then being out?
Again, thanks for any help folks.

no need to remove the motor, it wont be a problem with this. Just disconnect it in the boot by releasing the catch and allowing it to swing out freeing up the mechanism in the horseshoe compartment then you can undo the levers in the compartment, tighten the wires etc and once you have everything sorted just pop the motor back in and it will all be synced up still.

Regarding the drainholes, I could feel them with wire coathanger, but seemed blocked inside further down.
I used washing up liquid and then poured boiling water into that area.
Cleared all the gunk out and now drains!
Made sure car was on a slope so water drained into hole, then turned car around and did the other side.

Had tried previously with cold water, but predictably this did not work.

Just got to look at motor now...
