If you're talking about the old 5-series (pre-1994) then search for "m30b35" and you'll find all sorts of info on the swap. There was also an M30b34 was, I understand, which is older and a bit rare.
Think there's also an M50b35, but not sure.

M30 B35 is the engine out of the E34 5 series 535iGrrrmachine wrote:If you're talking about the old 5-series (pre-1994) then search for "m30b34" and you'll find all sorts of info on the swap. The M30b35 was, I understand, the M-power version and a bit rare.

M Power engines all have S at the beginning
So S50 B30 is the 3 litre lump out of the E36 M3, S50 B32 is the M3 Evo lump etc.
S38 is the M5 E34 engine and is a lot of work and money to do well as are any of the M power lumps due to the importance of getting the exaust manifold done correctly. Not so much of a problem on LHD cars though

M30B34 is the E28 version. higher compression than the later lump but with smaller valves. more of a pin to fit to a E30, the later one basically plugs inGrrrmachine wrote:If you're talking about the old 5-series (pre-1994) then search for "m30b35" and you'll find all sorts of info on the swap.
