Hi everyone, i've just bought my first e30 (325i) and one of the many things that need fixing is the aerial. It looks like its been snapped off at some point and I need to replace it.

Ive been looking on ebay and found this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-E30-3-SERIES- ... 353wt_1167

I just wondered if this would be a good choice (universal vs genuine) or are there any better alternatives (non-electric). Are they easy to install (i have no experience with cars)

Thanks for any help :)

Is this the Hirschmann aerial your talking about? I wasnt sure because the spelling was different:

I was hoping to replace with the same one but I walk by a modern 3 series on my way to work everyday and it has a short black flexible aerial which looks quite nice.

Are there any on-line guides to fitting an original aerial or is it pretty simple? Thanks

it depends how its connected, mine goes up when radio is on, then once off it goes down, but you can connect it to ignition or a switch too :)

Yeah Alex, I'm thinking the same thing. As with all things on the E30, it's good to know where to get the part if it needs replacing. Mine went up and down with the radio.

Will troubleshoot it before replacing as it's prob something stupidly simple, haven't been ass'd to check it :o:
