Any ideas on this ?

I just repl;aced the 40mm springs on my 4cyl touring with 60mm ones from the same company (GMAX) and the front has not moved ?

The codings on the springs definately reflect the 40 and 60 codes on the site for the respective drop, so I am wondering what could be the reason.

I am sure you guys will know something about why this might be. A bit miffed as I just spent my whole morning swapping them over !

Any help you can give thanks very much

i had the same thing with a astra had it on 40mm then went to to 60mm and the car went up was strange but i found out that the springs was off a 2.0 and i had a 1.6 so you have to make sure thay are from the same size engine because of weight and all that

at least use the car for a few hundred miles before you make your mind up they will need time to settle to the right height

BTW, I didn't mix them up and put the same springs back on in error !

The coils on the lower ones are tighter wound at the ends and wider in the middle making them ultimately the same length as the 40mm ones - just pointing that out for interest really !

I never thought of letting them settle though, thanks alot guys

Thanks alot for that.

I bought a £200 gmax kit with shocks for my last 325i and it handled just as well as my previous C22.7 with all that £1,000 plus Alpina monobloc etc etc, so I can attest to GMAX quality.

Best

As above, give it a while to settle, new springs will take time to bed in. And zaust your absolutely right, alot of the 'cheaper' brands get a bad rap from people, mostly who haven't tried them! Alot of these products are designed and manufactured by the same companies that make the higher end kits, just under different brandnames... :)
