Hi i currently have an M50 engine in my e30 and need to find the engine number does anyone know where on the block this will be located?

same place as on an m20 engine i think on a machiened flat surface you will probably need to clean it up to see the numbers

Often find that the engine number is impossible to locate/read,the man from DVLA when my M50 engined touring(ex LHD and on French plates(!!)..)had it's ViC check prior to regestration had a good hunt but was happy to accept the engine number from the donor's V5.... if you are stuck in this way,contact me for my engine number so that you can construct a similar proper sounding one!
