I have a 1990 325i auto cab, the car has been running without any problems at all, this morning the car fired up as normal (ticks over about 750) drove for around 15 miles and the first time i took my foot of the throttle the car cut out! it fired up no problem but it keeps cutting out when i dont give it some extra revs

Can any one shed some light on this please. I have checked all the pipes/hoses and have no air leaks.

Have you had a flat battery recently?
Things to check: Idle Control Valve, Throttle Position Switch.
How did you check the pipes and hoses? If it was just a visual inspection then you might have missed a tiny crack somewhere. Does the idle change if you remove the oil filler cap?
