how do i tell if i got abs or not????

the cars not currently driveable so is there something i would have on the car that would tell me if it was abs or not??? i have a 318is and wanna get new brake lines.

the abs valve unit is behind the n/s headlights if you have it

if it has rear disks you need a 6 line kit, whether it's got abs or not. if it's got rear drums you need a 4 line kit.

seconded on both of the above comments.
the ABS unit is hard to miss, it has a plastic cover with ABS written on it (on all i've seen anyway) and a whole load of brake pipes going in and out.

yes its discs all round, so its definately 6lines i need?

yep, 6 lines for sure.

2 for the front, 2 from the body to the rear trailing arms, and 2 from the other end of the hard pipe on the trailing arm to the rear calliper.

the abs / no abs is missleading.

cars with rear drums only need 4 lines because the rear wheel cylinder inside the drum is rigidy fixed to the rear arm so it doesnt need a flexy there unlike a calliper which needs to move to work.
