On a touring, how easy is it to get the sill trims off without damaging them so I can refit them afterwards. Need to check for rust on the outside of the sills.

they should be clipped on along the top and bottom edges and rivetted at the rear arch,there is also a pain in the but screw on the bottom of the front wing section,i found that if you drill the rivets out then use a broad lever to pop the top clips out of their holes you can (carefully) just pull it out and then down to unhook the lower clips,these come in two pieces when new which you then squeeze together to clamp the sill flange.you should be able to open them up again once removed
