Finally cured the overheating issue and the needle doesn't go past halfway mark.

The middle of the radiator still stays cold however, the top and bottom areas, and around the rad hoses are warm. Fan coupling isn't kicking in due to the middle of the rad being cold.

Do I ignore this or does it require further investigation? (that will hopefully prevent further damage!)

If the centre remains cold, your radiator is scrap.

I was thinking the rad could be at fault indeed. I've managed to eliminate all other parts and issues!
