Hello, i'm about to fit a skimmed head with a shrick 272 cam in it. Theres been skimmed about 1mm or so.
So my question is do i fit the head with a thicker head gasket or can i compensate with a vernier pulley?

with an uprated cam, a higher compression ratio could be a good thing surely?

You should ideally have a vernier cam pulley to dial cam timing back in correctly (worthwhile with an uprated cam in any case) and you should perform a dummy build with some plasticine or similar on the piston crowns to check for clearance

afaik, the thicker head gasket is only about 0.3mm thicker than standard so won't help you a lot. a metal gasket would be the only real way forward if you do want the CR back to standard.
