The central locking on my 325 Cab is playing up and having just read the wiki entry on common problems will have a play at the weekend. In the meantime can anyone confirm whether the symptoms I have are likely to be cured by checking the central locking relay etc.
The drivers door lock will open the car but won't lock it, however using the passenger side lock all doors open and lock fine. Is this likely to be something in the door rather than the relay as it strikes me as something in the lock mech which is not sending the right message to the relay.
Any thoughts?
Central Locking again

In the past i had trouble like that and when i looked at the barrel(after removing door card!)from inside i noticed the little sprung metal micro switch actuator had slipped sideways.
I just pushed it back in place and all was ok.
Moral of the story...dont slam the door when you are having a bad day!
Hope this helps...

Wear on the alloy L shaped piece at the rear of the lock barrel is likely to be the root cause of the problem, but try adjusting the locking motor slightly in its mounting slots.

It won't be the relay because the locks operate from the passenger side.

It doesn't look like it does in my sig pic anymore
Thanks for these, it looks like starting with a door card off job. Part of the problem may be that the door had dropped slightly on the hinge over 19 years and I cannot for the life of me seem to get it adjusted correctly which means regular slamming of the door. However if the mech is worn then that won't help either.
I am having a similar problem but the opposite with my drivers door, it will lock but not unlock on the drivers side yet i can lock and unlock from the passengers side and the boot. What happened when you took the door card off and checked the motor?GTXcess wrote:Thanks for these, it looks like starting with a door card off job.
