hi
have a problem with my temperature needle, when i start the car up in the mornings the temperature needle shoots in the red off the clock, even though the car is cold
its not overheating but the needle is playing about, the petrol needle doesnt work either
anyone have any ideas
all feedback shall be appreciated

I think your nuts may be loose.
No seriously... there are two M4 or so nuts on the back of the cluster. One's for the fuel gague, and the other for the temp and they provide ground to the gague as well hold the rest of the connectors in proper order.
Pull the cluster and take a look, if they're loose, tighten em snug, and then work from there...

I've had a similar problem with the temp sensor, took me ages to find out what was the problem.
In the end it was the wiring which runs from the sensor back under the inlet manifold, it was perished and causing all sorts things. Eventually the car would not idle correctly as the wires to ther injectors were affected.
Maybe take a look at that too.

No need to remove the steering wheel. It will just slide out past it with a little twisting about.
Remove the panel above the drivers legs.( Three quarter turns at front.)
Reach up behind little trim panel across bottom of instrument cluster and unscrew two aluminium "wheels" (about 20mm diameter) holding this panel in place.
Bend the ends of this panel out slightly, so that you can pull the studs out f their holes and remove.
Remove four cross head self tapper screws across the bottom of the cluster, and two screws up under the top of the shroud. Remove shroud.
Remove two more screws holding the wings of the cluster.
Pull cluster towards you and tilt downwards.
Hook small screwdriver under the black locking bar of the two plugs in the back (three if you have OBC), lever locking bars out and remove plugs.
Remove ABS warning light if fitted.
