dash only partly lighting up

when i turn the lights on only the speedo and fuel gauge light up, have tried hitting it 8O and turning the knob for the lights up and down, but still no luck, do i need to replace the bulb, if so how easy is this

REAL EASY TO REPLACE
just remove the clocks and change the bulb 20min job max if its ur first time 10 if done it b 4

I have had this happen twice in my 323i. The tachometer had no light. I also tried the brightness adjuster bit and hitting it but it didn't work so I kept driving for a while and when I looked down again it was all working like normal. Maybe yours will go back to normal again after a while, maybe try going over some bigger/sharper bumps and see if that helps?

There's a download that you can get from the Total BMW website about painting the E30 clock dials etc. It's wicked for explaining how to take the dash out. Would have posted the download link, but I can't get the page to load :eek:

If you do change the lamps, make sure you ONLY fit 3w lamps NOT 5w.... the orange covers WILL melt if you use a 5W lamp, you have been warned 8)

if all that fails, fuse 21 my friend is the culprit, it was in my case
