The Ilde Control Valve keeps your engine at a steady 750 rpm when the engine is left ticking over by it self.
When it's not working the engine idle rpms will not be steady (This progresses from slight variation to very large variations that also lead to that it can't keep the engine from stalling). But as long as your pressing the throttle it does nothing.
And yes it can make your engine die going through the gears as it has to catch it when you let go of the throttle during shifts.
