325i heater blower problam help!!!!!!

hi everyone hope everyone had a good christmas any way ive had a fault at the wrong time of the year my heater blower has packed up and when you turn it on you hear a click just behind the dash and if the lights are on it dims the lights when it clicks but before it packed up it did make funny noises like it needed oiling because it was very squeeky is this deffently the motor and if so is it easy as i know some cars can be an arse to change any help will be very gratefull

could just be the motor m8 ..if its the same as mine it is situated just behind the scuttle panel under the bonnet .......... there is a post about this in technical help under my name as mine went a few weeks ago ...............

same place ... the blower motor takes the maximum of twenty minutes to change ......

nice one you are all very helpfull are thease common to go and how much ruffly are they new from bmw according to realoem.com which is a bmw website which is the same as bmw dealers use to get pricees up try it if you dont know it any way its $220 on there which is ruffly £120 in our money is this true or are they more exspensive regard scott :D

Yes.

Check it is your motor first though.Easy enough to remove the old one :D

hi everyone who helped me with my heater blower ive today got to the motor and it was just it little tight from the dirt and shit a bit of a clean up and it was sorted i have heat again noing this country we will have heat wave tomorow lol :D

This is usually the case, but don't rely on WD40 or whatever you used to free it up to act as a long term lubricant. Treat each bearing to a few drops of light oil, such as "three in one" (if that still exists!), if you want it to last.

where are tthe bearing brian? i couldnt find anything one my knackered one. It doesnt work full stop now and i STILL havent found anyone to dell me a pre facelift blower motor or a post face lift motor from an A?C equipt car like mine. :cry:

The bearings are only plain bush bearings, and are one at each end of the motor. Access is difficult because of the fans.

brian i think you are right i did use wd40 which i think the heat is starting to make the same noise as last time on speed 1 it sound like its struggling on the rest at the moment are fine but im going to do it tomorow before its top again as its not a bad job to do if i cant get hold of any 3in1 oil would nomal car oil work as that can take high temp regard scott
