Right, been having this problem thats gradually got worse i think.

My engine wont turn over, i have an immobiliser fitted, usual procedure is to put key in ignition press button on key fob for immobilser then turn to key to start the engine.

At the moment i do this and get nothing, engine wont turn over. Car starts up fine if you bump it.

Is this likely to be the immobiliser or my battery not holding enough charge to turn engine over? i havnt had a chance yet to check the voltage on the battery but will do tomorrow.

If its the immobilser how difficult are they to remove? my remote central locking runs off the same alarm/immobilser unit

Cheers

easyest way to check if alternator is on its way out is start up the car then remove the ground from the battery while the engine is running and if it cuts out right away ur alternator is total dead and not charging if it still runs start turning things on one by one and good alternator will be able to run fully loaded at tick over the rpms may rise to around 1200rpm. also if you do lots of short start and stop runs the battery will not be fully charged as it does take a while, i find to quick boost charge the battery is to turn everything on to maxium with the battery wired up and hold the rpm at 3k for few miniutes and then yet the car idle with everything on for about 10mins and then switch everything off and let it idle for 5mins then switch off the car, the battery sholud now have lots of power in it to start the car , i did this on my claimed dead battery and it starts the car fine and has not dead on me yet. also check the battery cables and post , sumtime it just need a good clean
