the centre of the bush has corroded in to the locating tube on the car i had to put a long parrell punch down though the bolt hole from the inside of the car under the rear seat give the punch a few good hits and it should fall out

Are the actual bolts still going through the bushes? If you haven't got these out you need to get under the rear seat and remove the chewing gum type stuff. Then from underneath the car wack the bolts off.

If you diff is just hanging it prob wont come off - put a jack under the diff and raise it to normal position.

yep, the main points have been covered.

1- need to have the actual bolts that go through the centre of the rear bushes out. lift the rear seat base to reveal the studs on either side. then get under the car and with a hammer and a thin punch or 3/8" extension bar give them a quick tap so that the bolt comes up inside the car.

2- if the diff and trailing arms are still on then you do need to jack it on the diff to stop everything wanting to lean back and downwards. Need to try and keep it all as square as possible then just rive the hell out of it and eventually after untold amounts of swearing and wishing you had taken it to a garage it may come out.

Lastly, just checking for the sake of stupidity..... you haven't got the car sitting on axle stands on the rear beam have you? :)

If possible - put the wheels back on and kick them backwards and forwards to free off the bush.

Now you see why everyone hates this job!! This is risky indoors and is the LAST resort.Blowlamp to the rubber, this will get the beam off, leaving the centre bore part of the bush behind,Then you can chisel that off and fit replacement mounting bolts. If you do this,be very aware of the petrol tank getting warm.

Josh, take the beam and bushes to the garage and slip them a fiver....I had to take mine to the local bus garage, but my wife works there...no idea how the job was paid for winkeye well done for taking the job on,going back I balanced the beam/trailing arm assembly on two wheels placed just forward of the tank, you may need an extra pair of hands to get it there.
