Someone tried to break into my car a few nights ago. They didn't get in, but the central locking stopped working for a brief while. I've decided that now's as good a time as any to fit the keyless entry system I bought ages ago and forgot about.

I've searched this forum for answers and I've found out that the glovebox is the best place to install it. However, that's about as far as I've got. I'm fairly useless when it comes to this kind of thing, so if someone could tell me what wires to put where that would be great. There's a manual here that should tell you all you need to know: http://www.cce-handel.de/ffb-pdf/bmw-rc100-en.pdf

My car would be "Type 2".

Thanks.

I suspect your car would be more secure without the keyless system. The factory deadlock system is set manually with the doorkey on the driver's door and elecrically on the rest. Even if the keyless system can trigger the electric deadlock on the other doors your driver's door won't have been deadlocked.
