Hi Guys,

Quick one for you, my iS has a factory fitted alarm and since last week all the indicators on the driver's side have stopped flashing when activating/deactivating.

I'm thinking I need to find a relay somewhere, but I have very little electrical knowledge so need some basic advice!

Any help appreciated guys...

Hi,
Usually the relays for this are inside the alarm unit, the best bet is to try and find a pinout of the alarms connector, one wire should run from that to the indicators for the left (and another for the right). I am not sure of the implimentations of it being a factory unit, but it may just mean a cleaner install...

I assume the indicators work as normal otherwise?
good luck!

If it's a correctly fitted factory or dealer installation, the connections from the alarm to the car loom should be at a large white plug and socket at the back left hand corner of the glovebox area. The wires are blue/red and blue/black. If everything's OK here, the problem is probably the relay inside the alarm control module, as said above. This is usually tucked up above the glovebox area.
Start by removing the plastic cover above the glovebox. Be careful not to destroy the glovebox light, or you will develop other indicator problems!

I had a look into this today, and the loom behind the glovebox seems ok from what I can tell.

These pictures may help a bit, you can see the two blue/red and blue/black wires at the top of the loom and they plug into the connector perfectly. I suspect the problem lies in the alarm control module, how do I get to this? I was reluctant to remove the heating vents today, and what should I be looking for out of the ordinary?

Thanks
Ajay

If those wires in the foreground of the pic are for the alarm, it looks to be a tidy alarm install, but not factory or a properly done dealer fit.
Follow the alarm wires to the control box. It's probably a faulty relay inside of it, or, more likely, a dry joint on the relay.
