Whats the best solution to sort out the steering turns, basically i think its 2.5 turn to full lock, i want to shorten this...

What options do i have, by the way ive got a BTB 6 branch incase that effects anything.

Any help/info would be helpfull

thanks

Z3 rack or the E36 rack, Z3 prefered by some as it is shorter.

The grey area, it would appear to me, is do these fit with uprated manifold??? There is a big thread on this in the motorsport section although i am eger to find out the answer

No i've got standard manifold but a Z3 rack waiting to go on! One of the chaps in that thread who is running the hot tuning manifold has had to move the rack over slightly then wind the tracking in/out to get centre?

Z3 1.9 is the quickest although are fairly ducking hard to find. I had to get mine shipped over from Ireland! Expect to pay around £120 odd quid. You also need new pipes and spacers too which there was a group buy on here however think the fella can still get the pipes made up, i'll pm you his details.

Standard E30 rack is near as dammit 4 turns. The Z3 1.9 rack is 2.75 IIRC.
Unless you want to fit a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus 2.2 turn rack (it's manual - no power available), 2.75 is as good as it gets.
There was a company doing high-ratio pack and pinion sets for E30 racks a few years ago, but I can't remember who it was now and the last I recall was that someone here enquired and was told they wouldn't make any more.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

Hi, I want to change my manual rack also, for a 2.2-2.5 lock, Keeping it manual. Has anyone tried fitting one of the readily available Escort q/racks? Where do you get talbot/lotus (lhd?) racks!
I am always looking to find ways of losing weight (off my E30) so all suggestions welcomed

WHAT???

And here's me not being able to find any over here and looking in the UK for them
Where in Ireland did you get it from?

The Z3, E36 or E46 racks don't really fit with the 6 branches that easily. Onz was thinking of maybe seeing would E34 engine mounts help I think.
