Should my spark plugs have the screw on tops?

Ideally yes but dont think it would make much odds

iirc if they did have them, they'd need removing to fit the leads? I remember fitting the plugs then having to remove the plugs again to get the caps off

I've checked the plugs that should be fitted to your car and they do not have the screw tops on so you are fine

I got through loads of plugs on my old car (oil fouling).
Take the screw bits off or they won't fit.
Gap is 0.7mm. I'd say that the plug in the pic has done its bit!

On the photograph the centre electrode looks very worn.
